Gowa, 18 June 2025 – Following the recent formal welcoming of new Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) to the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, the English Language and Literature Department of UIN Alauddin Makassar is especially pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Purnama Cahya as its newest Lecturer, effective June 2, 2025.

Dr. Cahya's arrival was celebrated as part of the broader welcoming ceremony for new staff held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. The event, which fostered a warm and familial atmosphere, was attended by the Dean of Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Prof. Dr. H. Barsihannor, M.Ag., alongside Vice Deans, Heads and Secretaries of various Departments, and other newly appointed CPNS within the faculty. This gathering marked an important step for all new members in integrating with the vibrant academic community of Faculty of Adab and Humanities.

Dr. Cahya brings a specialization in L2 (Second Language) motivation and applied linguistics. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Linguistics from Monash University, where her doctoral research investigated the dynamics of Indonesian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students' motivation. 

"I'm incredibly passionate about  understanding what motivates language learners in dynamic classrooms, especially within dynamic classroom environments," Dr. Cahya remarked. "I'm so excited to share what I know, and honestly, learn a lot from the students too."

The English Language and Literature Department anticipates that Dr. Cahya's specialized expertise will significantly enhance its pedagogical approaches and research capabilities, particularly in the critical area of applied linguistics. The department extends a warm welcome to Dr. Purnama Cahya as she embarks on her new role.
